Ark Journal, Volume VI (Cover A)

349 SEK
Sold out.

At Ark Journal we explore the spaces around us, the objects we put in them and the people who make them. Bridging architecture, design and art, we show them as interplay rather than in silos, and with a sense of enduring Scandinavian values and aesthetics. We celebrate good ideas, honest and inventive design and materials and encourage critical debate. Each issue we visit extraordinary homes around the world that are more than the sum of their parts and that express the personal narratives of the people who live in them, their philosophies and influences. By placing architecture at the core of Ark Journal, we want to consider it in the broader context of our lives, reflecting its more humanistic side and celebrating tactility and individual dimensions.

Copenhagen-based, Ark Journal is a biannual magazine founded by Editor-in-Chief Mette Barfod and made by an experienced team of designers, stylists, photographers and editors. The 240-page magazine is sold in 25 countries around the world.

In this issue:

We live in a time of immense change and hyper-sensitivity, with an acute awareness of how much everything we design, make and produce will resonate now and in the future. We have dedicated Volume VI to the bright minds and talents who have captivated and inspired us in a time of flux and we take our lead from thoughtful designers, artists, architects, and curators with strong views and priorities.
A leading voice is the designer, creative director and author Ilse Crawford, whose humanistic approach to design fosters wellbeing. Hers is a simple mission to put human needs and desires at the heart of her work.

Look out for insightful reflections from Jonny Johansson, the mastermind behind Acne Studios, artist Mark Manders, Amaryllis Jacobs of gallery Maniera, architect-designer couple Malene Hvidt and Nikolaj Lorentz Mentze, and architect/essayist Justine Bell.
We draw special attention to creators, and their different perspectives on craftsmanship and making. We believe that the revival of craft and the placing of a higher value on the act of making will be important in the future.
