Beneficial Shock!, Issue 10 – Journeys and Destinations
Release date: November 5, 2025
Beneficial Shock! is a new bi-annual magazine for film lovers and design enthusiasts, with accompanying screen based motion features that will champion progressive thinking from contemporary illustrators, graphic designers and photographers. Rather than your standard film magazine full of reviews, celebrity news and press images, Beneficial Shock! aims to use illustration, visual documentation and design in humorous and irreverent ways to expressively interpret film related content.
In short, film is just the beginning.
In each thematic issue we will explore a chosen topic, looking at its relationship to film in surprising and often unconventional ways.
In this issue:
JOURNEYS AND DESTINATIONS
“The road is long, with a many a winding turn, that leads us to where, who knows where”. So sang The Hollies in what is a perfect summation of pretty much any journey for which the destination is less than clear. Beneficial Shock! is now 10 issues old (young?) and so a perfect time to take a closer look at journeys in the widest sense; casting our explorative net far and wide to reveal the myriad ways in which this issue’s dual themes can be imagined. From long-term relationships and the sauntering lives of ‘Slackers’ to time-travel and revisiting road-trips from hell – this issue is full to bursting with all of the creative passion and visual pizazz you’ve come to expect.
