In 2002 Jan Heine decided to follow his passion and start a low budget black and white zine about the culture, history and technology of cycling. 14 years on and Bicycle Quarterly has become a respected voice in the bicycle industry with an almost cult following. Reading a copy will help you appreciate and understand your bicycle even more, but most of all it will make you want to head out for a ride that pushes your boundaries.

In this issue:

Adventures in all their forms are the theme of the Winter 2019 Bicycle Quarterly. Lael Wilcox and Rugile Kaladyte tour Kyrgystan in preparation of the Silk Road Mountain Race. Three friends attempt a new route on the border between France and Italy. Two riders enter The Japanese Odyssey, a ride so challenging that few participants actually finish it. Even our bike test of the new Crust Canti Lightning Bolt turns into an adventure when a storm moves in as we traverse the Cascade Mountains.

We visit the J. P. Weigle’s mythical workshop in the woods of New England and show you the master at work. And Jan’s Firefly titanium all-road bike gets a make-over with SRAM’s Red drivetrain and hydraulic discs for a memorable trip to the Colorado Front Range.
