Design Anthology UK is a triannual print magazine spotlighting the best of design, architecture, art, travel and style across Europe. As with Design Anthology, our sister publication in Asia, we combine the highest production values with thought-provoking content, setting a new standard for premium design and lifestyle titles in the UK.

When we were shaping ideas for the inaugural issue, we asked two questions: What is our point of view? And, when there are countless other magazines covering design in Europe: Why now? The answer is fairly straightforward. We believe there is room for a new kind of considered, premium title that champions quality, beauty and innovative thinking.

Each issue is put together by our network of writers, photographers, editors and stylists – all bound by a commitment to creativity and candor. Far from a glossy catalogue to be discarded, Design Anthology UK is a collectible volume made by people who are passionate about print.

In this issue:

Welcome to our wellbeing issue, written by some brilliant storytellers who are insightful, imaginative and willing to dive below surface level. We’ve stretched the idea of wellbeing way beyond wellness and spa spaces, although you’ll still find those here, from healing hospitality design (p38) to a contrast-therapy facility where you can shift between saunas, cold plunges, and party spaces that wouldn’t look out of place in a nightclub (p30). We explored other facets of wellbeing in our orbit, too: designing for death and remembrance (p34); rewilding land on a grand Yorkshire estate (p60); Ukrainian craft and symbolism that links past to present (p134); a food-producing social enterprise in North London (p146); ‘design for democracy’ in the American South (p140); homes that make inhabitants feel cared for and connected to the planet (starting on p76); and fashion labels that promote self expression while caring for the hands of the makers (p152).
