It’s always fantastic to see a new magazine on the shelves, especially one with this high standard to it. Packed full of talented, up and coming photographers from the African continent, Oath has achieved a wonderful publication.
“We are taking an oath to celebrate photography and push the medium in South Africa and beyond. Oath Magazine is a print-based publication founded in Cape Town. We are committed to discovering, celebrating, and promoting emerging photographers from across the African continent. We offer a space for new artists painting with light to showcase their work and provide a visual diary of key talent from other areas of the world. Our platform exists to champion new work and open conversations about the visual arts across Africa to a global dialogue.
Oath presents to the world a curated view of the sweeping frontier of contemporary African photography. We recognise the need to interpret the great scope of photography talent coming from across Africa by providing a much-needed platform for a diverse new generation of photographers. Our goal is to grant visibility to emerging photographers, celebrate overlooked archives, and champion talent. There is a vast amount of photographic output across the continent, yet the platforms through which to engage with it both on home soil and abroad are minimal.”
