ODDA MAGAZINE is a bi-annual, contemporary fashion and culture magazine based in New York and founded by current Creative Director and Editor in Chief David Martin in April 2012.
By speaking out for creatives, artists, philanthropists, gallerists, actors and actresses, models, and people who participate in and nourish culture from an active perspective, ODDA is a platform where self-expression, imagination and dreams are brought to the next level. By discovering new meanings to those feelings, the magazine is also strictly connected to everything that brings excitement and passion. Starting from its very first issue, ODDA was published in the form of a hard-copy magazine by ODDA Ltd., a private media group.
Its editorial line, from the beginning and through the years, portrays menswear and womenswear collections, trends as
well as individual creative minds. Every themed issue reflects a statement which shapes all the contents comprised inside every volume. ODDA magazine keeps alive its fascination for strong personalities; people with character and, last but not least, its excitement for the new wave of designers, creatives and talents who are changing the cultural scenario worldwide.
Issue by issue, ODDA aims to connect the simple touch of fashion with the innovation taking place on a daily basis and a new and striking approach to trends, messages and meanings the industry creates day by day.
The new concept of fashion and what people like to wear is and will always be a matter of tastes, that is why the magazine is fully involved in the fact of reaching out as many as possible in order to give fashion a universal meaning.
In this issue:
“Walk My Way” traverses the various forms of runway that make-up the lives of individuals around the globe–from the creative to the viewer. We explore the faces of the runway, tracing its history with the likes of Helena Christensen and Rubuen Bilan-Carroll, to understand the then-and-now, and the decision behind each step taken. Such analysis of the show is expanded to the musical phenomenon that is Michel Gaubert and his impact on fashion shows and the energy shifts that he curates so seamlessly, while also inspecting the faces that make up the front row–past and present–with the late Gauthier Gallet and his contemporary, Francesc Planes. From there, we expand the individuals that have had their crafts utilized by the fashion industry. From Genta Ishizuka and his sculptural objects to the Costume Designers behind our favorite shows, we cast light on those behind the scenes and the impact they have had on our daily lives. We also dive headfirst into the Running Culture taking the streets by storm. Headphones in, heartbeat racing, we speak to three individuals harnessing the power of their own journey, invoking freedom and liberation. What is more, we engage with the professional minds that are educating the soon-to-be talents from fashion institutions globally, such as Roger Tredre (Central Saint Martins) and Shelley Fox (formerly at Parsons School of Design), before taking a global voyage to speak with those leading the Fashion Weeks out of the Mainstream with Copenhagen, Seoul and Rakuten (Tokyo).
ODDA No.27 “Walk My Way” also takes you to the Tokyo Edition Hotel with COMME des GARÇONS, Iceland and Istanbul with Dior, LA with CELINE and Chanel, Seoul with Max Mara, the never sleeping lights of New York with Taller Marmo, before rounding up with Louis Vuitton at the renowned site, Pescetrullo, created in collaboration with the late friend of the house, Gaetano Pesce.
