Overseas is a premium editorial publication aiming to document the influence of basketball on different identities and cultures across Europe, and beyond. We travel to celebrate unusual destinations and we connect with people to share new perspectives. Every story we narrate manifests an undisputed curiosity for the Game and the culture that deeply surrounds it.

Each of our focuses starts from the assumption that the Game is not limited to the court. Overseas basketball is a platform to discover societies, people, ideas. It’s a poem to be praised in the most disparate languages, it’s a historical, political and emotional wave to be deeply investigated.

In this issue:

Overseas’ mission is to travel simultaneously above and below the surface of the wave of curiosity, to explore minds and souls, to awaken them through basketball. We kept riding that wave for the second year.

Foreword by Dmytro Kryvenko

2022 marked the first itinerant EuroBasket. From Milan to Berlin three photographers take you by the hand, behind the scenes of the continental tournament and their noble profession. The glamourous Parisian Quai54 as the basketball world’s epicentre, Toronto as the multicultural hub that allows a minority project to flourish, the fascinating vibrancy of second and third generation of German hoopers from Turkish and Kurdish descendants. Be visually and intellectually challenged by these stories, along with our continuous exploration of the Adriatic coast and of quintessential rivalries that transcend the court like in Athens.

Our second issue is here. Its inspiring muse is the most lethal harmonious artist of today’s Game. An overseas sailor who will never forget his motherland: Luka Dončić.
