Proper magazine is a men’s clothing fanzine that also features mountaineering, music, books, retail and tea. Proper started out as a remedy to work-based boredom.

The dual editors met over a decade ago in a dead-end job and within a year the old ‘propertop’ website had been launched. When that began to run out of steam though, a fanzine version was born. Making more of an effort to write about clothes, it was well received and each subsequent issue was an improvement on the last.

Proper is primarily a publication which centres of clothes, not fashion.

Ok, so you could pick us up on that. It’s all fashion really isn’t it? But admitting that isn’t something we’re quite ready to do yet.

We don’t mind plugging anyones wares if we’re into it. Bear in mind though, you can’t blag a blagger, so your Hugo Boss x Lady Gaga ashtray-come-hairdryer probably won’t interest us. Actually it might but don’t tell anyone.

To our growing army of readers and the platoon of contributors, we love you like a fat man loves pot noodle on toast. Keep doing what you do.

In this issue:
Our third issue of the year is upon us and guess what we’ve written about? Yes, that’s right, coats. Lots of lovely coats. Technical coats, warm coats, coats that aren’t coats. Coats with hoods, coats that turn into things that aren’t coats. Coats that are jackets.

The usual insight comes from interviews with the likes of Goldie about adidas Spezial, and a look at some of the brands that have caught our eye this year so far.
