The Art of Seeing, Issue 1 – The Hard Places
Release date: August 29, 2025
The Art of Seeingis a bi-annual, high-end art magazine that celebrates the everyday lives and creative practices of incredible artists, known and up-and-coming.
The new publication for the international art world and creative community seeks to champion equality of voice, foreground missing narratives and foster collaboration across disciplines—at a time when the arts provide a vital source of inspiration and shifting perspectives on the way we see the world.
This isn’t just another art magazine! The Art of Seeing challenges the status quo by offering a window into the artist’s world—a human, honest alternative in a landscape often dominated by theory, gloss and opacity.
With exclusive photography and insightful interviews, we spotlight the real, creative lives of contemporary artists across various disciplines, exploring the hardships they’ve faced—such as rejection, fear of failure, loneliness, self-doubt, creative blocks, the challenge of making life work financially—and how they overcame them.
Because success isn’t the real story. The struggle behind it is.
In this issue:
Behind every piece of art, every song, film or expression of creativity is a story. Whatever an artist’s intentions from the start, the process of creation comes with unexpected challenges.
In our first issue, we spoke to 18 artists about their ‘hard places’: The most challenging moments in their artistic career and how they dealt with them. The practical advice and genuine insights shared explore themes such as how to deal with rejection, the fear of failure, criticism, loneliness, creative blocks, and making life work financially.
The Art of Seeing believes art doesn’t have to happen in isolation, but in collaboration. We want to make it that bit easier by talking about our experiences and lessons learned. Our simple message? You are not alone. Don’t lose heart. Just keep going, trust the process, and reach out to others. It will all pay off eventually.
