Swedish photobased artist Erik Berglin’s amazing 12-year project: Berglin studied birds like J.J Audubon – not in nature but in books. When he found a bird of interest, Berglin printed them out in scale 1:1 and pasted them in urban settings. In all, the artist posted (wheat pasted) 5000 printouts in 12 cities around the world.

Wheat pasted photographs of birds in scale 1:1.
The american ornithologist J.J Audubon worked 12 years (1827 – 1838) with a very ambitious book projects: ”Birds of America”. Audubon wanted all the illustrations to be in scale 1:1 wich made it one of the largest books ever made with each page measuring 100 x 70 cm.
As an homage to Audubon I have been putting up 5000 photographs of different birds in scale 1:1. I´ve been all around the world – in Reykjavik, Casablanca, Göteborg, New York, Tel Aviv, Berlin, Rio De Janeiro, Stockholm, Madrid, Malmö, Buenos Aires, and London. Just as Audubon I´ve worked with the project for 12 years and finally made a book with the same size as Birds of America.
