Besides providing botanical contents in a simple, personal and cozy way, The Plant offers to plant lovers a new look on greenery by featuring the works of creative people who also love plants. As a curious observer of ordinary plants and other greenery, the magazine presents a monographic on a specific plant and brings together photographers, illustrators, designers, musicians, writers and visual artists, both established and emerging, from all over the world, to share with The Plant their perceptions and experiences around plants.
In this issue:
Insects buzzing, birds tweeting, the sound of your breath.
Launched with six evocative covers and a promise to take readers on a sensory journey through nature’s many wonders, the 24th edition of The Plant drifts between secret gardens and imagined landscapes, intimate adventures and careful observations, the past and the present, the part and the whole. It offers inspired visions, unexpected ideas, and unique in-sights into our shared natural world.
Featuring, among others: Rainer Judd on a walk in Marfa with Sterry Butcher and Clara Balzary; L’Origine du Monde reimagined by Olga Prader; Saskia de Brauw in conversation with Haydée Touitou about her creative process, photographed by Annelie Brujin; Bruno
Amadi’s intricate glass miniatures, captured by Adriana Glavianno; Tiwa’s collection of green man–inspired totems, photographed by Jeremy Liebman; the Villa Carlota gardens through the eyes of photographer Martin Bruno and architect Marco Bay; Matthew McLean’s visit to artist Martyn Cross; photographer Osma Harvilahti’s Open Doors; AiHeMei’s pastel dreamscapes balancing innocence and darkness; and Deo Suveera and Pamela Dimitrov exploring the many nuances of the humble potato.
Fashion stories in this issue come to life through Stella Berkofsky’s skyward gaze; Marcelo Gomes’s exploration of light, colour, and emotion in Flânerien; Blommers & Schumm’s surreal narrative in My Neighbour Doesn’t Sleep; and IDEA Books co-founder Angela Hill’s collaboration with stylist Alexandra Gordienko, delving into family ties and memory in Massachusetts, Summer 1983. And woven throughout the pages is a special treat — a collaboration with artist Jonathan Monk, featuring his contemporary takes on Warhol’s iconic drawings. Keep an eye out as you explore.
