TRES is a multidisciplinary collective created by three siblings, that explores creativity through food and art.
For the first issue of TRES Journal, we were drawn to Abstract Expressionism, an art movement created in New York in the 1940s. In a post-war society in which uncertainty still prevailed, this group of artists expressed these collective experiences mainly through abstract painting.
Rather than just reproducing its style, our intention was to use the concepts behind this art movement as the premise for our creative process. We were not only interested in the expression through abstraction, but also the automatism and the movement used in Action Painting and the contemplative aspect of Colour Field paintings, both parts of the movement.
Therefore, this journal is divided into four chapters: Automatism, Colour Field, Movement and Contemplation, where we experiment with and expand on these different themes.
