Altar Magazine is here to service Black Nordics, people of African descent that live and thrive in the Nordic parts of the world commonly known as Scandinavia. Black nordics mix nordic aesthetics with african and american fashion culture, effortlessly creating unique looks and feels that are recognizable anywhere in the world by a trained eye. The average black Nordic is at least tri-lingual, well educated, tech savvy and travels on average more than any other people of African descent on the planet. Black nordics are happy, sociable, artistically inclined people that bring joy and flare to any function. Black Nordics are natural ambassadors of democracy, equality and integration of all humans.
With this Magazine we revere black culture through the lens of the black Nordic.
In this issue:
Thank you for choosing to read the second issue of Altar Magazine in 2024. This issue’s topic is The Nordic Black music legacy.
The musical legacy of Black people in the Nordic region is marked by a rich tapestry of genres, from jazz and soul to hip hop and electronic music. Their contributions have not only enriched the local music scenes but have also had a broader cultural and social impact, promoting diversity and addressing important societal issues. Many Black artists in Scandinavia use their platforms to address issues of race, immigration, and social justice, reflecting their unique experiences and perspectives. In this issue we attempt to give a simplified timeline of how the Swedish Black music scene developed from the 50s to now. We feature interviews with some of our more significant artists right now like Cherrie who is the cover of the magazine Also featured is Swedish grammy nominated singer Bishat as well as Joseph Tekie, a personal health and workout instructor. Victor Ajayi is a rising star on the Nordic art scene hailing from Nigeria via Ireland. Fashion, Lifestyle and plenty more.
