Brick is a lifestyle publication that examines Hip-Hop culture. Gone are the days where the culture is limited simply to rap music. Hip-Hop is a free-form creative culture that encapsulates rappers, singers, producers, designers, writers, photographers, artists, dancers, filmmakers and everything in between – and yet there isn’t a publication that currently does justice to representing this rapidly growing market.
Brick aims to focus heavily on print by releasing with content that buyers will want to keep as a log of timeless journals; capturing snapshots of the culture both with nostalgic features that pay homage to the past, and new music features that go in- depth beyond those of the ‘ones to watch’ style features that one might read in a disposable weekly or monthly publication.
In this issue:
The thread running through this 13th issue is ‘resilience’, featuring Jay Worthy, Obongjayar, John Glacier, and Venna on its covers. Inside, find in-depth interviews with each cover artist and hear from the likes of London-based rapper Kwengface, American singer-songwriter Mereba, and independent jazz label Minaret Records. Plus, a candid photo series by Theo Cottle, documenting the talented youth of the Morro dos Prazeres favela in Rio de Janeiro.
