L’Amour – La Mort is a literary magazine started, printed quarterly, started in 2017. We are a non-profit with no political or religious affiliations, funded in part by the Swedish Culture Board. Parallel to the printed magazine we organize and facilitate readings, concerts, art-shows and film-screenings, with the written word at the heart of our endeavour.
We work conceptually. Our most recent issue, for instance, titled “Resenärer” [Travelers], was printed and published in the physical form of a finnish-swedish passport from 1951. For this issue the writers, instead of being remunerated, had their travel costs covered. We collected stories, poems, interviews and journal entries from over 20 destinations.
We have published over a hundred poets and authors, at the beginning, middle, and end of their careers. And our efforts have not gone unnoticed, having made the literary scene in Stockholm wider, cooler, more fun, and more inclusive – blurring thresholds between younger, older, established, non-established, poets, musicians, dancers, actors and artists.
