MacGuffin is a new and unusual design & crafts magazine. It features fabulous stories about the life of ordinary, often anonymously designed things. Each biannual edition takes an object and explores the manifold stories it generates. Like the MacGuffins in Hitchcock films, these things are not the main characters, but the plot devices that set the story in motion.

In this issue:

MacGuffin STORIES gathers 18 offbeat stories and drawings that uncover the lives of ordinary things. From collapsed airbeds and clogged sinks to unsettling windows and whispering trees, these stories transform the familiar into something alive and charged, reminding us that objects carry memories and tensions of their own. Commissioned for and first published in MacGuffin Magazine, this small book brings together writers and artists who celebrate the unexpected beauty and drama hidden in daily life.

‍MacGuffin STORIES contains stories by Sarah Arnolds, Simone Atangana Bekono, Maurits de Bruijn, Douglas Coupland, Olivia Douglass, Arnon Grunberg, Sanneke van Hassel, Daphne Huisden, Inigo Laguda, Fouad Laroui, Maria Mahía, Tom Ó Caollaí, David Pefko, Jente Posthuma, Rosa Rankin-Gee, Adania Shibli, Kandace Siobhan Walker and Kira Wuck. Drawings by Bráulio Amado, Gabriel Carr, Viktor Hachmang, Rudy Guedj, Barbara Helmer, Henri Jacobs, Inna Kochkina, Can Lejárraga, Nazif Lopulissa, Moriz Oberberger, Olga Prader, Bernadeta Rimutyte, Koen Taselaar, Nina van de Ven.  Edited by Kirsten Algera and Ernst van der Hoeven.
