In this issue:

ISSUE 26 — AW26, a collector’s issue bringing together extraordinary artists, photographers, musicians, actors, farmers, and fashion talents. This issue is about looking again, looking closer, and remaining curious about the world around us, while revisiting the relationship between fashion, image, and artistic authorship through a series of new collaborations.

We open with Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood, photographed by Juergen Teller during the Body & Soul SS27 collection in Paris. Fashion has become terribly fond of the word “heritage”. But Vivienne Westwood has never been terribly interested in safe, and nor, thankfully, is Andreas Kronthaler. Our conversation explores a designer who refuses to preserve the past as a museum piece, instead putting it back to work — with mischief, sensuality, historical curiosity and a healthy disregard for fashion’s increasingly predictable rules. We’d forgotten how brave people can be in their art, until we sat down with Andreas Kronthaler.

For our first cover story, we travel to the Scottish Borders with the great Alec Soth to photograph Farmer, model and force of nature, Iris Lasnet. She takes us into the world of female-led sustainable farming, sheep shenanigans and life far removed from the fashion industry. Raised among animals and now studying agriculture at the Royal Agricultural University, she moves between two worlds without losing sight of who she is. From the lambing shed to the runway, this is a story about an inspiring young woman carving out her own path alongside nature, at a time when the focus is turning ‘back to the land.’

Our third cover features Esmé Creed-Miles, photographed by Scarlett Carlos Clarke, following her remarkable performance as Marianne Dashwood in Georgia Oakley’s new adaptation of Jane Austen’s Sense & Sensibility, written by Diana Reid. There is something unmistakably her own about this Marianne: romantic, impulsive, funny and emotionally unguarded. We speak to Esmé about inhabiting a literary icon, the freedom and constraints of women in Austen’s world, her love of music and her work with Cusk, the musical duo she formed with her best friend Evie Hilyer-Ziegler. Two hours and twelve minutes on screen are enough to leave a lasting impression.

In a powerful portfolio, Juergen Teller turns his camera towards Auschwitz-Birkenau, confronting the weight of history at a time when right-wing politics and extremism are once again gaining ground across Europe, but with his unmistakable photography that refuses to look away.

Jorja Smith returns to her roots in a conversation about sound, instinct and the making of her new album, What Are The Odds. From discovering the music of Henry Purcell as a teenager to moving between UK garage, R&B, soul and dance music, Smith has always followed her ear rather than a formula. We talk about creative independence, making music with longtime collaborator P2J, the importance of home and the strange, beautiful consequences that shape a life in music. Ten years into her career, Jorja remains entirely her own person.

We also meet young Canadian musician and performer Sophia Stel, whose work moves between sound, identity and physical expression. Raised in an ultra-religious family of 11 children on a farm in Vancouver. Sophia has just released her debut LP, The Greatest Album of All Time. Sophia’s themes include, exploring imposter syndrome, female confidence, skepticism from her religious upbringing, and juggling odd jobs and modeling with her music career.

On another cover we have the bewitching Susie Cave fashion designer, entrepreneur, model and actress, who is known for her darkly romantic Vampires Wife cult label and now Weddings and Funerals.

Fashion runs throughout the issue, with “Make Love Not War” by Venetia Scott, an invitation to look at the world differently, and Mariacarla Boscono photographed by Ben Taylor in a new fashion story. Across the magazine, familiar faces and unexpected encounters come together through the eyes of photographers who continue to challenge the way we see.

For our boys special cover we have rapper Nettspend – featured wearing Gucci, which was shot right after his special appearance in the Gucci Show with Demna’s iconic debut collection for AW26. Nettspend began rapping while in fifth grade, and by 2023 he was already attracting major critical acclaim. He released his studio album “Early life Crisis” on March 2026, after his Gucci appearance. His EP “VA Creeper”, is scheduled to release at the end of October, in time for this issue!

From the countryside of Scotland to the theatres of Jane Austen, from the uncompromising imagination of Andreas Kronthaler to the enduring urgency of Juergen Teller’s images, AW26 is an issue about looking beyond the obvious. About the people who refuse to stand still, the artists who keep asking questions, and the images that stay with us long after we have turned the page.
