Reed’s mission is to create a platform where we can share authentic stories about the people & things that inspire us and truly give our readers a better sense for what makes them tick. REED MAGAZINE is our return to the timeless world of print journalism tapping into Reed Art Department ’s unique insight on modern streetwear, sneaker & fashion culture.
Each issue features an icon in their respective field, who will serve as that issue’s guest editor-in-chief & enable us to view the cultural landscape through their eyes and work. As 2022 happens to mark the 25th Anniversary of the iconic STAPLE brand, who better to kick things off for our inaugural issue than streetwear legend (and Reed Art Department’s & STAPLE’s founder) JEFF STAPLE!
In this issue:
REED MAGAZINE is a print and digital journal that leverages Reed Art Department’s unique insight on modern street-wear culture. Our aim is to reinterpret the culture through an acute curatorial lens to tell authentic stories that matte and resonate across Sneakers, Fashion, Music, Art, Food, Nightlife.
Each issue features an icon in their respective field, who will serve as that issue’s guest editor-in-chief and enable us to view the cultural landscape through their eyes and work. As we close the books on 2022, we figured who would be better to high- light our second issue than the creative visionary and esteemed footwear designer and frequent collaborator, SALEHE BEMBURY!
SALEHE BEMBURY IS A CREATIVE BY TRADE, WHO HAS MADE AN INDELIBLE MARK ON THE WORLD OF FOOTWEAR DESIGN.
He has spent the better part of two decades immersed in the sneaker world, slowly climbing to the summit of an industry that is as competitive as they get. From humble roots working at the budget footwear brand Payless, he moved on to successful stints at Cole Haan and the sneaker brand GREATS. In 2015, Kanye West caught wind of Salehe’s talents and hired him to oversee Yeezy’s Men’s Footwear. Following YZY, Salehe climbed to the rank of Senior Director of
Sneakers and Men’s Footwear for Versace. He left the luxury brand in 2020 to pursue his own personal projects and build his Be A Spunge brand. Salehe has collaborated with distinguished footwear brands such as New Balance, Crocs, Vans, and Anta and was named Footwear News’ 2020 Designer of the Year.
