This volume of Sidetracked is a special 10-year anniversary edition. Michal Lukaszewicz and Karolina Gawonicz travel by canoe across the Barren Lands of Canada in search of a century-old cache, guided only by a few faded photos. Cat Vinton returns to her Moken friends in the Mergui Archipelago to witness how they navigate a changing world – and her mission is a highly personal one, not a commercial project. And art can sometimes be literal. David Popa uses natural materials and shifting, impermanent landscapes – such as ice floes – to create extraordinary portraits that sometimes last only minutes.
The stories in Volume 30 seek to contribute something of lasting value to the world, going far beyond furthests and fastests. Adventure as art.
