We have a feature by Vivienne Becker, who is the Queen of Jewellery! This is all about Avant Garde jewellers creating crazy interesting pieces which was shot by photographer shot by Alex Black. The shoot features some of the craziest sculptural pieces from a mix of unusual jewellers. Francesca Fearon writes about jewellery disruptors and in particular Chiefer Appiah, who grew up on a Tottenham estate, Hannah Martin who creates punk inspired jewellery and MJ Jones who creates customised rings for sports stars. We have an in depth interview with one of the three grandchildren of the founder of Milanese jewellery house Buccelati, Luca Buccelati. Iain de Castellaine is interviewed and shot in Louis Vuitton fashion and jewellery.
Iain is the new star of the ITV/ HBO series the Winter King by Bernard Cornwell. A shoot of complicated watches from Swiss high watchmaker Vacheron Constantin. Our fashion/ high jewellery shoot was shot in Paris by Billy Kidd and features Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi & Louis Vuitton, Bulgari and Cartier pieces. Our big story is an interview with Shaun Leane and shoot of his most iconic pieces. Shaun is famous for creating the catwalk pieces for Alexander McQueen’s famous runway shows – including the body armour, breastplates and jawbones. It’s a stunning visualisation of the creativity of jewellery. There is also a travel section featuring new hotels – skiing and the Maldives.
Something About Rocks is the first jewellery and fashion magazine where the two are fused. The magazine is shot by fashion photographers in a cool and unusual way. We also feature in depth articles from the makers of jewellery, designers, articles about brands and extensive fashion shoots. It’s the first moment when a jewellery magazine has been given the treatment of a luxury fashion magazine. Previous issues have featured an array of A list talent from the irrepressible Poppy to rapper G Eazy and film siren Laura Haddock. Future issues will continue to feature the best in up and coming talent as well as established stars. Each issue we delve into the creativity of a famous jeweller whether that’s Cartier, Piaget or Tiffany. We also dive into the world of watches and seek to disrupt that world too as more and more watch brands are creating watches for women.
In this issue:
The Winter issue features pop star Niki on the cover as well as inside rappers K-Trap and Scrapz, a profile on Tiffany designer Elsa Peretti and her jewellery legacy. Also included is the second issue of Something About Time, our bi-annual watch magazine featuring Outlander star Sophie Skelton on the cover. Indide features include a breakdown of the best watches for sport and timepieces worn by musicians.
