This book examines a project by Milan-based studio Progetto CMR for the redevelopment of an office building. Located in Rome, the structure was built in the early 1960s to a design by architect Giulio Sterbini.
The work – performed by De Sanctis – involved the complete renewal of the building in terms of layouts, functions, architecture, and MEP. Particular attention was given to restoring the façade and the design of the interiors, for which an emphasis was placed on sustainability and wellbeing in the work areas – for the most part occupied by the headquarters of PwC.
The book looks at the design process from the perspectives of the client, the architects, the contractor, and the tenants. This is complemented by texts examining the urban context and architectural analyses.
Drawings and photographs accompany the description of the work on the façade and interiors, which transformed an iconic, but dated and obsolete, building into a new focal point of Rome’s business community.
