Glory: City Stories – Milan

195 SEK
Sold out.

Glory is a new football magazine with an ethos to put the ‘beautiful’ back in the beautiful game. We travel the world documenting alternative football cultures including the most remote, exotic and unusual destinations.

Glory are a team of designers, writers and photographers with a shared passion for football. We wanted to explore football beyond the Premier League, the Champions League and the World Cup, beyond Sky Sports and BT – beyond even the Football League and the major European club competitions.

Football is the world’s most popular sport, and there are countless nations where die-hard fans pack remote, windswept stadia or watch their national teams scrap for the honour of a place in the FIFA top 100. We look beyond the money, the glamour and the trophies to find the real Glory of football.

In this issue:

In partnership with Euro Ticket Club, we nipped over to Milan to visit the great cathedral’s of European football; the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza – or the San Siro to you and me.

This City Stories issue of Glory couldn’t not showcase Milan’s two giants; AC and Internazionale. Alongside pieces from fans of both clubs, Franco Ficetola tells the story of the Derby della Madonnina, while Phil Delves explores how their rivalry spilled over into the world of fashion and a battle of the brands.

We profile Ronaldo and former footballer and current restaurateur Javier Zanetti for the Nerazzurri, while on the Rossoneri side we have an Italian defensive icon in Franco Baresi.

Football in Milan is far more than just the big two, however, and Massimiliano Macaluso profiles the clubs who live in the shadow of the giants. We also speak to the people involved in some of  the city’s smaller clubs, for example, Phil Sassoon shares the story of St Ambroeus, set-up by refugees and now plying their trade in the Italian eighth tier. We also hear from Nedbal Jacopo, co-founder of Partizan Bonola, a side who represent a community forgotten by the wider city.

And of course we explore everything else the city has to offer, from food to fashion, artfully documented in stunning print.

Campionato… di calcio… Italiano…”
