A new fanzine exploring stories about offroad creativity.

This is Skewed Conversations; our first issue explores Senegal’s capital Dakar. Here we met some of the sharpest designers and most driven creators and innovators in the world right now. For example, Bibi Seck, one of Senegal’s most established designers whose furniture you can find at some the world’s most prestigious design stores. We also meet defiant fashion designer Selly Raby Kane, perhaps best known for the dresses she made for Beyoncé. Then we talked to Ibe Sow, the brain and heart behind the designer brand Kaak Society whose accessories are just about to conquer the world’s fashion scenes. Dakar is both modern and accessible, and at the same time mysteriously religious and traditional.

Skewed Conversations is a fanzine in the sense it’s made by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, without any ads, and with the quality of an art magazine. Divided into two parts, one section is dedicated to stories where the reader will get to know the remarkable people we met, the other section is reserved for images and art. Starting a conversation between the two parts, the voices of Dakar and the way we experienced it. In great detail we share what we learned, words and visuals. The fanzine itself is crafted by some of Scandinavia’s most prominent graphic designers and printed by the peaceful and skilled monks at Narayana Press in Copenhagen. We hope that we will make Dakar justice.
