Inspired by the Japanese tradition of kigo, this collection of fifty practices offers simple ways to become attentive and respond to the myriad ways we can experience the subtle expressions of the seasons that are often overlooked within the familiar divisions of summer, autumn, winter, and spring. These simple prompts engage the cycles of breath, the inner and outer senses, playfulness, and physical immersion in the seasons’ many offerings, bringing body and heart into a direct experience of a sudden downpour of rain, the sound of frogs, the presence of too much smoke, a day long with light.
