It’s Freezing in LA! Special: To Stand on Shifting Ground

IFLA! is a new independent magazine with a fresh perspective on climate change. Too often, environmental discussion is polarised into one of two categories: the remote, technical language of science, or the hotheaded outrage of activism. This magazine finds the middle ground, inviting writers and illustrators from a variety of fields to give us their take on how climate change will affect — and is affecting — society. We want to help untangle the climate tensions and choices that our generation will have to navigate by platforming as many different perspectives as we can find. IFLA! provides original, engaging and surprising content that you will want to read — widening environmental discussion and offering a range of vocabulary and insights not found elsewhere.

Introducing It’s Freezing in LA!‘s next special edition: To Stand on Shifting Ground, built around a collection of poems about land, climate, colonialism, and complemented by fresh writing, imagery, infographics, and more. Showcasing IFLA!’s commitment to environmentally-informed design, To Stand on Shifting Ground will be composed in line with the Earth’s ever-shifting tectonic plates. The Indonesian ‘Ring of Fire’ will, for example, be represented by writing and poetry from celebrated wordsmith Khairani Barokka, while the African plate will represented by renowned poet Ojo Taiye. We’re proud to be collaborating with students at Central Saint Martins on the collection’s curation, and with paper partners G.F Smith, both of whom contribute much to the unique feel of this special IFLA! offering.
