Off-Menu is an independent, community-driven magazine exploring the world of food and drink.
Through curated photography and writing, we hope to highlight the untold stories of individuals working behind the scenes — producers, chefs, baristas, front of house, back of house, and more — in a way that is intentional and meaningful.
In this issue:
Our first issue “Recipes From Home” centers around the stories of young, up-and-coming chefs who are deeply inspired by their notion of culture, home, and identity. This issue highlights three New York based chefs: Jocelyn Dang (Le Bernardin, Jungsik, Atoboy), Vincent Zheng (June Wine Bar, Nudibranch), and Morgan Kim (Virginia’s, Crown Shy).
Our contributors spent a day with the chefs in their home kitchens as they each prepared a dish based on the theme of “Recipes From Home”. In the evening, the team and guests gathered together for an intimate dinner party, in which the chefs got to present their dish.
Through curated photography and long-form writing, each piece captures the chef’s journeys and aspirations in the culinary world, their various sources of inspiration, as well as the process of preparing the dish itself. In this issue, you will also find three exclusive recipes written by the chefs, for each of the featured dishes.
